Melissa Antonio

Acoma Pueblo

Pottery

Melissa takes home a prize ribbon just about every time she comes to the Prescott Indian Art Market.
She was taught traditional pottery-making by her mother and mother-in-law, both of whom were skilled potters.  Her clay and her pigments come from the pueblo lands, and her inspiration for the intricate designs she paints on her pots comes from an ancient pottery sherd that she found .  That ancient design finds its way into all of her pottery.
