Florence Riggs

Navajo

Weaving

A pictorial/traditional/contemporary design Navajo textile/tapestry weaver, Florence Riggs lives in Tuba City, Arizona. Her mother, Louise Y. Nez, taught her how to weave when she was a teenager, and she presents her art throughout markets in the Southwest. “I have taught weaving at Diné College, Tuba City campus for several sessions,” she states, “and I always sign my textiles or wearable art (vest and rug dresses” with my initials, like an artist would sign their originals.”

Florence Riggs creates stunning pictorial Navajo weavings. Her charming masterpieces feature scenes from Navajo life on the reservation.
