Transportation Building
Museum's Rolling Stock
1970
From bicycles to surreys, from freight wagon and stagecoach to classic 1917 Ford Model-T farm truck and Sharlot’s own Durant Star car, the Transportation Building hosts the Museum rolling stock. The building itself dates from 1937 when it was built to house the Jacob Mechanical Service, and later a warehouse for bulk oil storage. Obtained by the Museum in 1970, it was mainly a storage building for its first four years. Today, it features the 12-passenger Modoc Stage, a delivery wagon, a fire hose cart, and so much more.

- The Modoc Stage served as a featured "ride" at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California.
- "Toughs" fire hose cart holds 350 feet of hose.
- Arizona's Bicentennial Wagon is a half-scale replica of the famous Conestoga wagon. It traveled cross-country from Arizona to Valley Forge, PA, for the bicentennial celebration in 1976.
- In-the-day, you could buy a nice, horse-drawn buggy for $25-$50 in 1900 from the Sears, Roebuck catalog.
- A runabout and buggy are essentially the save type of vehicle, except that a buggy has a top.
- A road cart with 50-inch wheels was used to exercise a "city" horse -- often considered the sports car of the horse 'n' buggy era.
